Carla Fortmann

Carla Fortmann is a clarinetist stationed in New York City who
acts as a freelancer that performs both solo and ensemble works, while
being a full time student. Carla began her studies at Juilliard’s Music
Advancement Program from 2014-2016 where she served as principal in both the wind ensemble and orchestra under the instruction of Larry Guy. Thereafter she continued her education at Mannes Prep from 2016-2018
with David Sapadin. Carla has participated in music festivals such as Interlochen, the
Wyoming Performing Arts Institute, the Luzerne Music Center, Kinghaven, Bard College’s Clarinet Intensive, and Bravissimo Clarinet Academy. She has also performed with various ensembles like Face the Music, New York’s All State Band, and local community bands. In addition, Carla has performed in masterclasses given by Anthony McGill, Anton Rist, Franklin Cohen, Emil Khudyev, Stephen Williamson, and Toyin Spellman-Diaz. Besides performing, Carla has experience in conducting
small ensembles and teaching woodwind instruments to kids ranging
from middle to high school. Ms. Fortmann is currently attending the Mannes School of Music where she is continuing her education under David Krakauer. She is also a
member of the New York Youth Symphony and the New York Youth
Symphony Chamber Program.
