
Raphael Maranon is originally from the Philippines, but now studies cello performance at Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. He started playing cello in the fourth grade through his school’s music program and is now studying with Karen Basrak, cellist of CSO. Other notable cello teachers he has had in his life include Sarah Marsh and Nazar Dzhuryn. Mr. Maranon has worked with Thomas Mesa, Helen Callus, and Dr. Raymond Harvey in ensemble and solo capacities in masterclasses. Raphael enjoys playing in orchestras, chamber groups, and recitals. Outside of music he enjoys going out on traveling, yoga, and reading.
