Haddon Kay

Haddon Kay is a junior at Northwestern University pursuing a degree in Cello Performance with Hans Jensen. He has studied cello for 16 years and has won recognition as both a soloist and as a cellist for Piano Trio Royale and Trio Keluvaina. In 2017, he was a finalist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition and performed with the Chicago Civic Orchestra. In 2016, he was the first place winner of the MYA strings division in the Walgreens Concerto Competition. In 2015, Haddon was the selected soloist for the New North Shore Chamber Orchestra, winner of the DePaul Concerto Festival, and performed with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago.

As a cellist for Piano Trio Royale, the Orion Trio, and Trio Keluvaina, the groups were each semi-finalists at the 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Junior Division. The groups also performed for National Public Radio’s From the Top in Naples, Florida and in Highwood, Illinois. As an orchestral musician, Haddon has held the principal cellist positions of the 2018 National Youth Orchestra of the United States under Michael Tilson Thomas and the 2018 Midwest Young Artists Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
